Cambus

Cambus Scotch Whisky

Cambus distillery near Alloa was one of the first grain distilleries to be built, tracing its history back to 1836 - there had been another distillery on the site dating back to 1806, and an iron bridge constructed in this year to link the earlier distillery with the other bank of the River Devon is now an A-listed building and a ‘Scheduled Ancient Monument’. The area has had a long tradition of distilling and brewing (it is close to the Deanston malt distillery, and there remains a well-regarded brewery in Alloa).

Cambus distillery was closed for good in 1993, and as a Lowland grain distillery very little of it was ever bottled alone, mainly going into blends. It is well regarded by single grain fans, however.
