Tasting Notes

Kuki Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc: New Zealand’s largest wine region in production and area, Marlborough is located at the northeastern tip of the South Island. It stretches from the small port town of Picton in the Marlborough Sounds to the east coast town of Kaikoura. Made by Waipara winery, this has lifted notes of fresh grapefruit and tropical fruits on the nose, leading to a fresh palate with concentrated fruit flavours and a mouth-watering finish

Rioja Blanco Santiago : Founded in 1870 in Haro, on the banks of the River Tiron, Bodega Rioja Santiago is the fourth oldest winery in La Rioja. Bodegas Rioja Santiago hosts and serves wine to millions of pilgrims as they pass through Rioja, on their final stage to Santiago de Compostela. The wine has an intense floral and delicate aroma on the nose with hints of herbs. The palate is fresh, soft and round in the mouth with an invigorating finish.

Dry River chardonnay:
The rivers of Australia help to irrigate the vineyards. Although water is important; the drier the river the better the concentration of flavours in our wine. Made in South Eastern Australia, Dry River Chardonnay displays an enticing nose of peach, citrus and lemon aromas. The tropical fruit flavours and luscious mouth feel mid-palate complement each other to deliver a deliciously rounded wine with a crisp and clean finish, balanced nicely by acidity.
Serve lightly chilled, it is an ideal accompaniment to smoked salmon or trout.

Picpoul de Pinet Beranger: From the Languedoc region in Southern France, the terroir mainly consists of ancient terraces called ‘Costières’ overlooking the Etang de Thau lagoon and the Mediterranean sea.  The vineyards benefit from Mediterranean climatic conditions where nights are cooler than further inland, which in turn produces a wine that bursts of aromatic complexity. It displays notes of citrus fruit (grapefruit, lemon and lime), floral notes (white flswers, linden leaves, hawthorn blossom) together with mineral notes. An elegant and fine wine with a refreshing delicately saline finish. Excellent as an aperitif or with sushi, grilled fish and of course, oysters.

Mirabello Pinot Grigio: A firm favourite, it is a fresh, dry white with gentle floral and citrus aromas. Crisp and delicate on the palate with lightly honeyed fruit balanced by lemony acidity and a fresh, dry finish. Very versatile and easy drinking.

Campo Nuevo Garnacha rosada: Rosada is the Spanish word for rose and is a particular speciality of the region of Navarra. The nose has aromas of strawberry, raspberry and redcurrant and there is a subtle creamy edge on the palate. It is very well balanced.
A great BBQ wine and especially good with grilled haloumi skewers.

Finca El Picador cabernet sauvignon:A Concha Y Toro wine. This is unoaked and produced in the Central valley of Chile. Medium bodied with the characteristic  aroma of ripe blackcurrants. It is generously fruit forward and balanced with soft tannins. Suitable with red meats, pizza and pasta.

Morellino di Scansano Poggio Morino: Morellino di Scansano DOCG is an Italian red wine made in the hilly regions near the village of Scansano, in the Maremma area of coastal Tuscany, which has an ancient but obscure tradition of winemaking. Morellino is the local name for the Sangiovese grape variety. Many people think that the name Morellino comes from Morello (brown), the colour of the region’s horses. The name may also come from the morello cherry, a dark red cherry with great tartness and acidity.

It must be at least 85% Sangiovese, which is also the basis of the Tuscan wines Chianti, Brunello di Montalcino, and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. The remaining 15% can comprise any non-aromatic black grape varieties included in a list made and periodically updated by Tuscan wine authorities. The Morellino di Scansano "Poggio Morino" is made from Sangiovese and Syrah, with a ruby-red colourf that tends to be garnet-red, with a fresh nose paired with ripe fruit notes, violets and red berries. The palate is enveloped by its aromatic, full-bodied and well-balanced taste.Great with pasta dishes with game sauce, red meats and aged cheeses.

Campo Nuevo Tempranillo: Aromas of cassis and mulberry with a palate which is soft and well rounded and is smooth on the finish. A great value red from Navarra, Spain that is soft, fruit driven and easy drinking - a great party wine!

Nugan Estate shiraz : Today, Nugan Estate owns 590 hectares of vineyards across Riverina, King Valley and McLaren Vale. Matured for 6 months in American and French oak. This has ripe, full, juicy red berry aromas with a hint of leafy smoke in the background. Soft on the palate with good weight and structure. Red cherry and delicate woody spice characteristics alongside a little capsicum and a hint of menthol on the finish. Great with barbecued meats and chargrilled veg.

Finca del Alta Malbec: Argentinian from the Mendoza region with an attractive deep garnet colour and aromas of red cherries and blueberry jam on the nose. A full-bodied Malbec which carries a softer finish as a direct result of being blended with a proportion of Merlot. Perfect with red meats.

Fildefer Merlot:
The Vin de Pays d'Oc wine-growing region is omnipresent in Languedoc. It covers the area from the South of the Côtes du Rhône all the way to Carcassone. The largest wine producing region in France uses a multitude of various grape varieties, some quite obscure, but this is 100%merlot. The wine has a very fruity bouquet (red fruits, blackcurrant...) with aromas of red fruit jam. A balanced wine with silky tannins and a superb lengthy finish.
This wine pairs perfectly with meat dishes in a sauce such as lasagne…
