Founded in 1820, the now closed North Port distillery took its name from an old gate to its native cathedral city of Brechin. To enjoy this bright pale gold 20 year old cask strength single malt at its best, measure one part whisky to two parts still water at room temperature. Any slight cloudiness is normal in an unfilterered cask strength malt.
Tasting reveals a dry grassy nose, a light medium body, hints of tropical fruit on the toasty palate and a brisk, dry finish; characteristics thought to be influenced by the cool underground still house.
