Glenfiddich 23 Year Old Grand Cru

06.12.2020

Hello and welcome once again ladies and gentlemen, cigar and whisky lovers, to this week's Sunday journal. Today not only do I have an outstanding bottle of whisky to talk about but also have an amazing virtual tasting with Glenfiddich for you to win.

What is this great bottle I hear you ask? The Glenfiddich 23 year old – Grand Cru! And what a dram the fine people at Glenfiddich have created. If you are a fan already of Glenfiddich then you know that these guys love to experiment and really push the limits when it comes to releasing whiskies that have been aged in different casks.

It wasn’t that long ago that they release the Glenfiddich IPA, one for the beer lovers out there among us. This cheeky single malt was finished off in an India Pale Ale cask giving it a vibrant zesty citrus note followed by soft, sweet vanilla and a hint of fresh hops.

And let’s not forget the Glenfiddich Winter Storm 21 Year Old, in which Malt Master Brian Kinsman of Glenfiddich was inspired to create after a very cold trip to Canada. Where they finished off the whisky in French oak Icewine casks from the Canadian winery he visited for 6 months. This gave this whisky an outstanding bouquet of tropical fruit and candied sweets are perfectly balanced with underlying wine notes.

So, what did Glenfiddich do to make the Grand Cru 23 year old so special? Well not only has the whisky been matured for 23 years in handpicked American and European Oak casks, which is a long time to wait for a whisky to be exactly right. They then finished it off for 6 months in a rare French Cuvee, marrying Scotland and France together to make such a celebrated dram. And the taste? Layers of rich vanilla oak, sweet brioche, sandalwood, pear sorbet and white grape.

This whisky is a perfect way to celebrate the end of this interesting and challenging year, one you can raise a glass to all loved ones and cheers to new beginnings.

Now for the icing on the cake, we at Robert Graham have teamed up with Glenfiddich to give you a great chance to win a private tasting with Glenfiddich. You and five of your friends or family will get a virtual tasting with Glenfiddich’s own Mark Thomson. All you need to do to go into our raffle is simply pick up a bottle of Glenfiddich 23 year old Grand Cru from either our online store or pop into one of our stores.

Happy drinking folks.

Iain
